Somehow my heart doesn't bleed.......
At least not for these "millionaires" in the Valley who have it so hard not being up to speck with "only" a couple million in net worth. I rather not go into a discussion about whether one should sympathise with them or straight up laugh at them. What I find most interesting is that I am not reading such an article for the first time. Actually I've probably seen 10 articles over the years with exactly the same topic. Yet, for some reason, you really don't see too many such articles in Europe. I also don't often hear people complaining about having made it and all the associated troubles this brings. Are Europeans simply suffering all their wealth quietly? Are they not trying to keep up with the Jones's (or Schmidts here in Germany)? Yes, it is quite clear that wealth is even scorned here at times and jealousy runs rampant in the 'Burbs amongst neighbors, but I wonder if those worth a couple million somehow feel left out. There are neighborhoods with high-net worth individuals surrounding Munich as well as Hamburg or Berlin (without mentioning the areas surrounding Paris or London, etc.) yet I rarely see or hear of problems as described in the NYT article linked above. Let me know if I'm missing something here! Share your pain if your millions are making your life miserable.
