Free mobile calling? Just suffer through the ads!
Well, I came across an interesting business model today. The company Blyk just went public with their offering and I am going to follow this one closely. I have long been convinced that someone would do this. It was inevitable. Yet, I am really curious as to how you want to scale this. I don't know about you, but I already hate it when my phone is even slightly slowed down by it CPU or anything else which gets in the way of usability. How do I then make phone calls when I probably have to sit through a "commercial" before actually getting connected. I realize Blyk will focus on kids, and they have the time for this but somehow I think they tend to get pissed off as well if they need to call someone quickly and don't really want to be pushed advertising. One way or another, I believe these are exciting times in regards to mobile tariffs. I just recently went through the process of converting my mobile plan and adding a data plan to it. I still think I am being gouged but at the same time, T-Mobile whom I am using, gives me the best coverage. I am able to switch after three months though and as soon as anything better, cheaper, quicker, easier comes along, I'm gone. Hence, I'm crossing my fingers for Blyk, because if nothing else, they'll manage to continue pushing down the price of using your mobile phone!
